How to Design Buried Scraper Conveyor Scraper Chain to Minimize Trouble

 1. You should select the appropriate chain speed according to capacity and material properties, so that make the scraper chain run under reasonable load conditions. For the common material, scraper chainoperating speed range is generally 0.16 ~ 0.5m / s. You can choose a specific speed reference GB GB10596.1-89 standards and practical experience in the same industry units.

2. You should select the appropriate structure of scraper chain on the basis of delivery materials and transporting form. The selection principles are as following: in general, preferred forging chain, greater hardness of dust-like material should not be used bush roller chain, chain prone to floating material might as well use bush roller chain and double-plate chain. To ensure maximize the carrying capacity of scraper chain and avoid waste of energy and materials, you should be guaranteed under the condition that the scraper chain can bearing the maximum working load, choose the scraper chain closest to the required load and the maximum working load. 

3.  Select the chain of materials Scraper chain material must ensure a certain strength. In the long time work, insufficient rigidity will force the scraper chain produce plastically deformed scraper chain elongation, and chain in installation has been tensioned, allowed elongated room is little. This will make scraper conveyor bear a powerful additional load, which will inevitably bring damage to the chain. In other words, scraper chain stiffness shortage will make scraper chain obvious distortion in use. The ideal steel material is manufacturing performance not less than 45, scraper chain have to overcome a lot of friction, bearing a lot of dynamic load and static load, so after the scraper chain manufacturing and post-weld, it should be carried out heat treatment, make it has high strength, toughness and wear resistance characteristic.

Chain maintenance for Scraper Conveyor

All conveyor parts which may be subject to wear (wheels, chains, attachment, scraper bars) should be checked regularly for wear or damage. Chain contact surface are subject to normal wear, the extent of which is governed by chain quality, number of link movement, contact load and material handled. 

Wear in the contact areas reduces the chain thickness and thus has a direct relationship to service life. Ways to prolong the service life of the chain are as follow:

1.   Lubrication with lubrication oil, increases wear as it will form a grinding paste.

2.   Air and water washes or scrapers, which remove the material from the chain, drive and idling wheels reduce wear.

3.   Chain and attachments should be checked for damage following a conveyor overload.

4.  Chain replacement should always be combined with the replacement of all toothed wheels, or toothed rims, to ensure proper meshing of the chain.
